Korean used cars in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is the largest single market for Korean used-car imports in the GCC. Vision 2030 has accelerated demand for newer hybrid and EV models, and the Public Investment Fund's mobility initiatives have made high-trim Genesis and Kia models particularly sought-after. The 2026 SASO 5-year age cap means every shipment must clear within strict model-year windows — a constraint KUC manages by surfacing only eligible inventory on the Saudi landing.

    Country-specific questions

How do I register a Korean imported car in Saudi Arabia?

Once cleared at Jeddah Islamic or Dammam, the SABER conformity certificate is presented to MUKHALSAH for transit-plate issuance. Final registration with the General Department of Traffic (Murur) requires the MAHEM inspection test, valid insurance, and original ownership documents. The importer or clearing agent you contract with handles this end-to-end chain — confirm scope and pricing with them before payment.

Does the 5-year age cap apply to electric Korean vehicles too?

Yes — the SASO age limit is uniform across all powertrains. A 2021 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is allowed in 2026 (the 5-year boundary is inclusive), but a 2020 unit will be refused at port regardless of mileage or condition. EVs get no special exemption from the age cap.

How does inland transit to Riyadh work?

All Korean shipments enter Saudi Arabia by sea — Jeddah for the western region, Dammam or Jubail for the eastern. Inland transit to Riyadh is arranged after customs clearance: 1–2 days from Dammam by car carrier, 2–3 days from Jeddah. KUC's logistics partner schedules the haul as soon as the SABER certificate clears.

Are right-hand drive Korean cars allowed in Saudi Arabia?

No. Saudi Arabia is left-hand-drive only. Korean exports are LHD by default so this isn't a concern for genuine Korean stock — but ex-Hong Kong or ex-Australia inventory (occasionally mislabelled as Korean) would be refused at SABER inspection.

Importing Korean Cars to Saudi Arabia

KUC is an informational platform that surfaces inventory from the largest Korean car export yards for buyers in Saudi Arabia. The prices shown are estimates in SAR covering the Korea purchase cost, ocean freight, customs duty, local VAT, and port handling — use them to set your budget before contracting. Each car ships with its standard Korean dealer inspection report; the final binding price, any pre-purchase physical inspection, shipping, and insurance fall within the importer's scope, not KUC's.

Why import a Korean used car to Saudi Arabia?

The Korean domestic market turns over quickly. Most cars are sold under five years old with less than 60,000 km on the clock and dealer-stamped service records. The result is high-condition Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis models landing in Saudi Arabia at prices 25–40% below local market equivalents.

How does KUC help me import a Korean car to Saudi Arabia?

KUC is a free informational platform: it shows you live Korean inventory in your language, estimates the total landed cost in Saudi Arabia's currency (duty, shipping, insurance, taxes), and walks you through every step of the import process. The actual purchase, shipping, and customs clearance are executed by an independent importer or shipping agent you contract with directly in Saudi Arabia.

How long does shipping take from Korea to Saudi Arabia?

Typical transit is 18 to 28 days from departure at Incheon Port, plus 5 to 10 days for customs clearance and final delivery once the vessel arrives at the destination port.

What's included in the landed-cost estimate?

Korea purchase price, ocean freight (RoRo or 20-ft container), marine insurance, Saudi Arabia customs duty, local VAT, port handling charges, and clearing-agent fees. These are estimates based on market data and exchange rates; the final binding price comes from the importer you contract with.

Are the cars inspected and verified?

Every listing carries the standard Korean dealer inspection report (도이전등록), which includes recorded accident history and the certified odometer reading. Any additional pre-purchase physical inspection is arranged by the importer you choose, at your expense — KUC does not perform an independent inspection and does not guarantee the condition of any specific car.

    How are payments handled?

Payments are arranged directly between you and the importer you contract with. KUC does not collect or hold any funds. The industry-standard staged-payment pattern (deposit, main payment, balance on arrival) is set by your importer's contract, not by KUC.
