    Korean used cars in Egypt

Egypt's used-car import market is highly regulated. Two main legal channels operate: (1) the special-needs (ذوي الهمم) scheme that exempts qualifying buyers from most duties, and (2) the expatriate-Egyptian initiative (مبادرة المغتربين) that lets nationals abroad import a vehicle with reduced customs. KUC sources Korean inventory matched to both schemes and handles the NAFEZA single-window submission for clearance at Alexandria.

    Country-specific questions

How do I import a car from Korea to Egypt?

Importing a car from Korea to Egypt runs through NAFEZA: KUC issues the ACID number before the car leaves Korea, ships via RoRo to Damietta or Alexandria (~5–6 weeks), then clears customs and the EGP duty/VAT on arrival. Most private buyers import under the expat (مبادرة المغتربين) or special-needs (ذوي الهمم) schemes for reduced duty; standard-rate import is also possible. Use the KUC calculator for an EGP landed-cost estimate before contacting an importer.

Who qualifies for the Egyptian special-needs (ذوي الهمم) import scheme?

Egyptian nationals with documented disability that affects mobility, with valid medical certification from the relevant authority. The scheme exempts most customs duties on one vehicle, with adaptations or specific trim configurations sometimes required (e.g. automatic transmission, hand controls, lift-equipped vans). KUC verifies eligibility with the buyer's documentation before issuing a quote.

How does the expat (مبادرة المغتربين) scheme work?

Egyptian nationals working abroad for at least 3 consecutive years can import one personal vehicle with reduced customs (typically 30–50% lower than the standard rate). The car must be paid for from a foreign-currency account, the importer must remain abroad for a minimum holding period, and the vehicle is initially registered under restrictions on resale within Egypt.

What's NAFEZA and why does my paperwork go through it?

NAFEZA is Egypt's national single-window customs platform. All import documentation — including ACID numbers (Advance Cargo Information Declaration), commercial invoices, bill of lading, packing lists, and inspection reports — flows through it electronically. KUC submits and tracks every shipment via NAFEZA on the buyer's behalf, including ACID issuance before the cargo leaves Korea.

Is the EGP exchange rate locked when I pay?

KUC honours the EGP landed-cost quote for 7 days from issuance. After that, the rate is re-quoted at the prevailing CBE (Central Bank of Egypt) rate. Korean export pricing is denominated in USD, so EGP volatility directly affects the total — buyers can lock in by paying within the 7-day window. KUC does not speculate on the rate beyond that.

    Importing Korean Cars to Egypt

KUC is an informational platform that surfaces inventory from the largest Korean car export yards for buyers in Egypt. The prices shown are estimates in EGP covering the Korea purchase cost, ocean freight, customs duty, local VAT, and port handling — use them to set your budget before contracting. Each car ships with its standard Korean dealer inspection report; the final binding price, any pre-purchase physical inspection, shipping, and insurance fall within the importer's scope, not KUC's.

Why import a Korean used car to Egypt?

The Korean domestic market turns over quickly. Most cars are sold under five years old with less than 60,000 km on the clock and dealer-stamped service records. The result is high-condition Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis models landing in Egypt at prices 25–40% below local market equivalents.

How does KUC help me import a Korean car to Egypt?

KUC is a free informational platform: it shows you live Korean inventory in your language, estimates the total landed cost in Egypt's currency (duty, shipping, insurance, taxes), and walks you through every step of the import process. The actual purchase, shipping, and customs clearance are executed by an independent importer or shipping agent you contract with directly in Egypt.

How long does shipping take from Korea to Egypt?

Typical transit is 18 to 28 days from departure at Incheon Port, plus 5 to 10 days for customs clearance and final delivery once the vessel arrives at the destination port.

What's included in the landed-cost estimate?

Korea purchase price, ocean freight (RoRo or 20-ft container), marine insurance, Egypt customs duty, local VAT, port handling charges, and clearing-agent fees. These are estimates based on market data and exchange rates; the final binding price comes from the importer you contract with.

Are the cars inspected and verified?

Every listing carries the standard Korean dealer inspection report (도이전등록), which includes recorded accident history and the certified odometer reading. Any additional pre-purchase physical inspection is arranged by the importer you choose, at your expense — KUC does not perform an independent inspection and does not guarantee the condition of any specific car.

    How are payments handled?

Payments are arranged directly between you and the importer you contract with. KUC does not collect or hold any funds. The industry-standard staged-payment pattern (deposit, main payment, balance on arrival) is set by your importer's contract, not by KUC.
